The Couples Match is an NRMP program that allows two applicants (who may be dating, engaged, or friends) to link their rank order lists with the goal of matching into the same program, hospital, or geographic location; each partner creates an individual rank order list reflecting both parties' preferences, and the matching algorithm adapts to form pairs of programs where both partners receive positions, with options including listing programs multiple times, using a no-match code for flexibility, and attaching supplemental rank order lists for advanced programs, while unmatched partners may become eligible for the SOAP program.
