To increase Google reviews more effectively, businesses should send SMS messages instead of emails, as SMS has a 98% open rate compared to only 20% for emails, and customers respond to texts in about 90 seconds versus 19 minutes for emails. This five-fold increase in engagement significantly improves the likelihood of customers posting reviews. The process involves using the Google My Business app to create a short URL for your review page, then sending an SMS with this link to customers after completing a service.
SMS-Based Google Review Requests: A Guide for Local Businesses
Added:how'd you get more Google reviews faster with one simple trick if you want to know the answer stay tuned and hold your breath because we're diving in now hi there my name is Luke Duran the founder of ranking Academy Co UK if this is your first time here today and you want to grow your local business's online presence why don't you start by subscribing now and picking on the Bell button so you don't miss a thing Google reviews are super important because a a great number of potential customers will come across your Google listing will decide to do business with you purely based on your reviews and B reviews are a key local search ranking signal which will help your business show up higher in Google search and Google Maps the problem is they can be tricky to get and only a fraction of your customers will be willing to post a review for your business even if you send them an email reminder because let's face it who things are trying to read all their emails these days the trick is instead of sending your customers an email send them an SMS why because research shows that SMS open rates are as high as 98% in comparison to only 20% of emails and on average it takes 90 seconds for someone to respond to text and 19 minutes to respond to an email which means that almost all of your customers will open and most likely read the SMS you send them this is five times more effective than emails and if five times more customers open and read your SMS then the likelihood of them posting a Google review is going to be much higher I know what you're going to say oh I don't have time to start typing and send SMS every time I finish dealing with a client one-step read the SMS they'll need to search for my Google listing online blah blah blah but the great news is you don't have to you can do this in seconds literally all you need is a smartphone which I feel confident most of you have if you haven't installed it already download the Google my business app from either Google Play Store or iTunes depending on which device you're on once you've installed the app open it and log into your Google my business profile which will bring an overview of your listing performance on the bottom menu tap the customers option by default you should see the latest customer reviews that have been posted on your listing from the top right hand side window tap on the connected dots icon at this stage you might be prompted to create a short name for those of you who don't know what a googled my business short name is it's simply a custom URL you can easily share with your customers which when they click on it or type it directly in a browser will take them to your Google my business listing and it looks like this so instead of using a complex URI like this one you can use a far more practical option like this one you can easily promote it on your business cards your email signature your company brochure and any marketing material to help people find your Google listing by default Google will suggest a short name based on your business name in this example you've probably noticed that the suggested short name includes the word review at the end of it this is because when you create a short name for the first time using the Google my business app Google will automatically add the review parameter to it the reason behind this is that this short URL which includes the word review will automatically be inserted in the SMS you will send your customers from your phone which I'm going to demo in a second but ultimately you will end up with two short URLs one that will take visitors directly to your listing and one that will lead visitors directly to the review pop-up requests if you feel the short name suggested is not suitable you can easily edit it for something you prefer if you are happy with the suggestion just click on continue then Google will create and save your short name automatically all you need to do now is tap the share profile button select the SMS option enter your customers phone number and tap send your customer will receive a message like this once they open your SMS they can just tap the link which will take them directly to your Jambi profile so they can leave a review you will not have to repeat all of these steps every time you want to send an SMS this scenario is only applicable for those of you who haven't created a short name in the first place if you had already created a short name for your listing once you've stopped the icon a pop up under will automatically appear with the default message requesting to post a review for your business tap the SMS option and add the customers phone number then send if your customer is not logged into a Google account you will be prompted to log in if unfortunately it doesn't have a Google account you will have to create one you have to strike the iron while it's hot so once you've finished dealing with a customer ask them if they'll be happy to leave a Google review for your business send them an SMS shortly after and follow the steps I've just described you should see your number of reviews increase rapidly don't forget to respond to all of them as it also plays a part in the game that we played I believe this is the fastest easiest and most efficient way to currently ask for Google reviews and I'd be curious to hear what results you are getting from this technique so let me know in the comments below if you don't know about how to make the most of Google my business click on the playlist here or for some local SEO advice then choose this one until next time happy marketing
