It's easy if you use upper extension triads. So before we add the upper extension triad, we need a solid foundation and we need a dominant seventh chord. Let's use a C dominant 7.
So we're going to use the root C. And all we need is the third E and the seventh B flat. Bam. That in and of itself is a dominant 7. If we want those upper extensions, we can add various triads. I'm going to show you three really important ones. The first one is if you want a Lydian dominant sound with that sharp 11. We are gonna add the nine D, the sharp 11, F sharp, and the 13 A.

Over that C7. Sounds like this. Bam. That's number one. The next one is with a flat N. So, we're going to do our C, our E, and our B flat. That's our C7. We're going to add that flat N, D flat, the sharp 11, F#arp, and that 13 A. That's an Fsharp minor triad over the C7. Sounds like this. Bam. And finally, one of the most common dominant seven sounds is that alter dominant 7 sound with the flat 13 and the sharp nine. So, we're going to add our C7.
